How to print negatives

imageblack inkjet film allows you to make negatives direct from an ink jet printer or laser printer.

Simplicity…
imageblack is the simplest method of making a negative in the world – just load the imageblack film into your printer carriage so that the coated surface is the correct way up to be printed on.  Set your printer settings for the software package that you are using, according to the description below.  Press print, and your negative is ready for use! Laser printing almost always requires enhancing with solvent, with Hp printers we reccomend wiping with a cloth soaked in white spirit before heating with a hot air gun. Other solvents will blacken by more but you can remove the toner as a consequence.

Speed…
imageblack is the fastest way to make a negative – just press print and the negative is produced in seconds.

Cost saving…
imageblack is very cost effective, the total cost is just the cost of the imageblack sheet and the ink or toner.

Changing the settings for inkjet printers. Insert the imageblack film so that it will print on the coated (will stick to a damp finger) side. Print a small box (open a text box and click black for the fill colour) using one of the settings from the short-cut menu. Write which print setting it was down and move the box along, change the setting and print another box. Look at all the boxes against the light and choose the darkest black. Handle the inkjet negative carefully as it will scratch easily and is not water resistant.

Changing the settings for laser printers. Insert the imageblack film either way round. Change the printer settings to maxmimse the toner discharged. The best way to find this option is via the Start menu and the access your computer's Control Panel. Make sure the film is kept dry and in a sealed bag as dust and moisture will prevent the toner sticking to the film. You will have to enhance the output by spraying with toner density spray or wiping with solvent (for Hp white spirit works well). Heating will darken the output further.
