We recommend making negatives by direct printing on an ink jet or laser printing rather than using photographic film or daylight contact film. Direct printing is quicker, easier, lower cost and more consistent. imageblack film is designed to print out negatives directly from an ink jet or a laser printer.

imageblack laser film will work excellently with many makes of printers, please note that some laser manufacturer’s do deliver dense enough toner to make a negative. We recommend the HP range, and our chosen machine is the low cost HP1022. In the printer settings always remove the toner saver or increase toner density. Then just print out with the colours reversed. You can use the print outs from some machines directly, but we would recommend enhancing as a rule. Enhancing can be done with our imageblack spray and heat or you can just quickly wipe the surface with a cloth soaked in white spirit (kerosene) and then heat with a hot air gun. You will achieve densities equivalent to a photographic negative. Resolution matches that printed in reverse, typically over 600dpi. This is our preferred choice of negatives for professional UV exposure units.
imageblack ink jet film works excellently with nearly all models of ink jet printer. Just reverse your black and white image and print out using the black ink only, increase the ink volume (if available) and select the paper setting that delivers most ink (probably photo paper). Print out on the coated side and you will have a negative ready to use using either daylight or UV exposure direct from the printer. It will achieve densities obtainable from photographic negatives and at resolutions of typically greater than 1200dpi.
When making stamps using imagepac daylight you can use imageblack laser negatives, imageblack ink jet negatives and ordinary plain paper.
